when you fight a war on terror raining bombs on innocents
blow the limbs from children and say it's self defence
when you can see a future where the human race may end
yet you do nothing to upset your wealthy friends

when you suppress your feelings so your face begins to freeze
only the coldness in your eyes shows the extent of the disease
when your cynical self-interest distorts every grain of truth
when you preach the word of freedom while you help enslave our youth

and the weapons of mass distraction are in the hands of a powerful few
they spread their lies and rumours till you don't know what is true
when the coalition of the willing is the deaf leading the blind
it's that chilling human condition; apartheid of the mind

when high paid corporate criminals defend their greed and avarice
refuse sick workers compensation on the best legal advice
"I was only following orders doing my job toeing the party line
after work I have a drink and I leave it all behind"

your prophets teach forgiveness but you march again to war
an eye for an eye in the never ending score
haven't we learned a single thing from the horrors left behind?
the peril of following leaders with apartheid of the mind

what makes us uniquely human is not to think or speak
but the quality of compassion for the helpless and the weak
we're good at making holes in people good at scoring goals
I wish that we were better at making people whole
look inside every warmonger I have no doubt you will find
a kind of schizophrenia; apartheid of the mind
