BioDinesh Moylan is a singer/songwriter who lives among the forests of south-eastern New South Wales, Australia. He made the decision many years ago to bypass the music industry highway, and began travelling the scenic independent route. The journey began with small and large bands where he honed singing and guitar playing skills. Many line-ups later he, quit playing live to concentrate on writing and recording his own songs. A detour ensued into the world of live sound, and he became a seasoned front-of-house sound engineer. He purchased some serious recording equipment and in 1996 recorded the album- Doing the Dishes. More studio engineering and production work followed and composition of music for film and commercials. After a period of ill health he quit music as a profession altogether; turning to paid and volunteer work in forest and river conservation. He became re-inspired to write and perform, realizing when all else failed music had a special power to heal. In 2003 he began to learn to use Pro Tools software. The result was the 2004 4 song EP Now Hear This! And then came a new discovery- a way of using several mini capos in combinations to get the sound of open guitar tunings and more. He says of the new method; "It's more like having an extra hand- I can make chords which would otherwise be impossible. It's re-inspired me to explore a whole new way of guitar playing. Each time I discovered a new set of chords, a new song would come out of it." The songs written during this time became the 2007 album Beautiful Place. More like a one-man theatrical performance, the new show includes prose, poetry and relevant quotes. Many of life's big issues are tackled- including love, sex, politics and religion- both incisively and irreverently, along with some no-holds-barred social commentary. Distinctive guitar playing is combined with technical know-how to produce a unique sound, plus some thumping stomp box, a whiff of harmonica and slide guitar, and heartfelt singing. Songs from the 3 CD releases are included along with some new material. Dinesh also enjoys surfing and kayaking on the wild Tasman sea, and is nourished by being in the bush and meditation. He has built his own house, lived in Greece and India, and worked as a landscape gardener, rocklayer and mechanic. |
